Yes, if your deck is higher than 30" above grade, a building permit will be required. If it is 30" or lower, it is not subject to building codes. In both cases, a zoning permit is required.

Yes, you do need a permit for a shed. 

1. Sheds under 1000 sq. ft. : Zoning permit only
2. Sheds under 1000 sq. ft. WITH ELECTRIC: Zoning and Building permits are required.
3. Sheds over 1000 sq. ft.: Zoning and Building permits are required.

If your intention is for personal consumption, the Township does allow chickens BUT please check your deed restrictions or HOA. A chicken coop requires a Zoning Permit and MUST be at least 50 feet away from the property line.  All animals shall be confined within the owner's property.
